The Iron Liege Method is the philosophy outlined by Greg Feiler - revolving around reinforcing the weapon at key stress
points, webbed directly to the core with Kevlar. Our thrust tips involve no less than five layers of reinforcement and
integration between layers of foams of different densities. We use premium closed cell, cross linked "micro cell"
polyethylene of various densities for maximum effect on the shaping and the safety elements of the weapon. On most weapon
lines, we exceed the amount of foam used by other companies - the minimum amount of foam is 1/2" (12.7 mm) to core on
non-striking areas, on striking areas the minimum is 1 1/4" (31.75mm). Our detail areas on Hybrids (non striking areas)
and with fully-coated weapons have a tough, resilient coating applied to the foam. The cloth we use to cover hybrid
striking areas is a premium broadcloth/twill. We have a larger selection of cloth, foam and cores for the discerning
customer in addition to our standard, allowing us to create weapons with the same feel and weight of other brands if so
desired.
Our weapons are hand carved and coated, with an eye to consistency on our main lines. This allows us to create weapons
tailored to customers, being able to add personal touches. The standard lines are all Hybrids, to better serve the safety
concerns of American LARPs. The Custom Design option enables us to build weapons from specifications outlined directly by
our customers, modified in part to fit in with the Iron Liege Method philosophies. In addition, we can create an entire
line of product for a particular LARP or groups of LARPs, built with materials approved by that particular LARP group.
This can help to create a unique feel to the depth and breadth of the game world - with information about the game(s) and
Game World on the Iron Liege website. Not only does this drive interest for the LARP the weapon has been designed for, but
it generates Iron Liege Credit for that LARP on each weapon sale. Design Insurance can also be purchased for weapons,
insuring a one-of-a-kind weapon that we will only make for the the Insured.
Working with the Fighter's Guild of the LARP Alliance, we are now building an entry-level line with the lowest price
point of any professional weapon builder. These weapons fall under our Novice Tier, are durable and functional, and can
be used as practice weapons (to better conserve the longevity of higher-priced weapons) or as NPC weapons.
Iron Liege will be carrying a heavy weapon line, built with the Iron Liege Method to standards recognized by the heavy
fighting Battlegames of America - including Dagorhir, Belegarth, Darkon, and Amtgard. These will also include shields and
pole arms, and coated only were appropriate - otherwise cloth covers are used.
